What’s Emi Gayle’s favorite joke? #meettheauthor

Today we’ve got Emi Gayle, fantastic YA author of PNR, in the hot seat. *rubs hands together and gives a maniacal laugh*

Welcome, Emi!  Let’s start off with the good stuff.

If you met a yummy man who had a time machine, where would you ask him to take you, and when?

2013 I’d like to see what’s coming next year so I can properly plan.

Ha ha!  One of those, are you?  I’m guessing you’re not much of a thrill seeker, then?  No motorcycles, roller coasters or bungee jumping in your past or future?

I’m really not. I’m a little … well … boring. All those things scare the bejeepers out of me. Though my hubby does have a crotch rocket. Well … the roller coasters. Yeah, those I can take. Love Thunder Road at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina. Yep. That’s my biggest ‘thrill’.

Have you seen the 90 degree drop one at Busche Gardens?  Yeah, that’s on my bucket list if I can find someone brave enough to go on it with me.  🙂  Have you ever done what the author t-shirts threaten and written somebody you dislike into a story?  No need to name names, or anything.  🙂  If so, what did you put them through?

Me? Do that? Guess that person will have to ‘see’ based on what’s in the book. 😉

Gah, such a tease!  🙂  What’s your favorite joke of all time (can be dirty or clean)

Hehehehee. Joke: “Wanna hear a dirty joke?” Punchline: “White horse fell in a mud puddle.” Haaaahahahahahaa 😉

*snort*  Ohhhhhh-kay.  😉  Where did your hero come from?  Someone you know?  Dreams of the *ahem* daytime persuasion?  What makes him tick?  Inquiring minds would like to know.

I just wanted a hero who wasn’t the traditional ‘hot boy’ with all the money, all the smarts and all the goods. I wanted smarts first. And what makes him tick? Anything supernatural. Thus, he’s the perfect match to Mac.

I’m down with yummy geeks.  🙂  And Winn is a perfect one.  There are a lot of stereotypes cast in a romance novelist’s direction, like they must sleep in slinky lingerie when most I’ve met are dressed from head to toe in flannel jammies when they hit the sack.  Are you a warm and comfy girl?  Or an in-the-buff or silk and satin kind of girl?

Satiny silk is what I want … but I can’t stand actually sleeping in it. It gets COLD!

Cold?!  That’s what your man’s for, girl!  *grins*  Boy shorts, granny panties, thong, g-string or commando?

G-string? Blech! LOVE Boy shorts though.

But they’re so comfy!  *cough*  Not that I wear them or anything, just sayin’.

Food is often a good way to create a tension-filled moment in a steamy novel.  What’s the most sensual food you’ve ever eaten?  Have you ever written about it?

There are strawberries and chocolate in book 2 of the trilogy … Day After. Oh yeah. That.

Mmm, sounds divine!  Okay, I have to go back and read that part because I don’t remember that!  What kind of high school personality were you?  Band dork?  Jock?  Loner?  Brainiac?

Band dork!

I’m starting to think being a band dork is a prerequisite to becoming a writer.  🙂 If you could be a superhero, what would your power be and why?

I would be a shapeshifter! Oh yeah!

Hmm, but what would you shift into, I wonder.  *taps chin*  Do you have any phobias, like run-screaming-at-the-mere-mention-of-it, fears?

I. Do. Not. Do. Spiders. ::shiver::

Ick.  You and me, both.  If you could take back a single moment of your life, what would it be and why?

The haircut I got when I was a senior in high school. Yes. That. Needs to go away.

*shivers as I remember badly permed hair of my own*  Yeah, so not going there.  🙂  If you could live your life as an animal, what would it be and why?

Cat! Lazy rules!

Oh yeah, that would be nice, wouldn’t it?  Eat.  Sleep.  Repeat.  If you could only paint your house one color on the inside, what would it be? (does it do something to your mood?  Is there a reason why it’s your favorite?)

Raspberry. It’s my FAVORITE color.

Love it.  And red.  LOVE my red living room.  What’s your proudest moment so far?  (It doesn’t have be about writing.)

Watching my son as the captain of the football team walk out onto the field with his co-captains. Rock on!

That would be neat.  Congrats to him!  And now for the pretty – isn’t it awesome!

Back of the book:

What eighteen year old Mac Thorne doesn’t know will probably kill her.

In exactly eight months, five days, three hours and thirteen minutes, Mac has to choose what she’ll be for the rest of her life.

She has no choice but to pick. As a Changeling, it’s her birthright. To Mac, it’s a birthchore. Like going to school with humans, interacting with humans, and pretending to be human during the pesky daylight hours.

Once darkness descends, Mac can change into any supernatural form that exists — which makes her as happy as she can be. That is, until Winn Thomas, the biggest geek in her senior class, figures out there’s more to what hides in the dark than most are willing to acknowledge.

In this first of the 19th Year Trilogy, Winn might know more about Mac than even she does, and that knowledge could end their lives, unless Mac ensures the powers-that-be have no choice but to keep him around.

So, if you love YA PNR, you HAVE to read this one.  Check out the deets.
