Someone to watch over her #sixsunday

Here’s a snippet from another WIP I’ve been working on during NaNoWriMo, Road to Salvation.  After a hard few days, Charlotte has come to crash at Detective Braxton’s apartment, breaking every departmental rule he’s sworn to follow.

Charlotte’s eyes peeled open to find a fully-clothed Joel laying almost nose to nose with her on the bed.  Drool spilled from the corner of his lips where the blanket had shoved his face askew in sleep.  Wearing a smile, she resisted the urge to test the texture of his hair or trace his full lips, choosing instead to squeeze the hand he’d lent her sometime during the night.

His lids popped open, momentary surprise fading to contentment.  “You were having a nightmare,” he said too quickly, as if embarrassed to be caught in a compromising position.  “Holding your hand seemed to comfort you, so I hope you don’t mind.”

Oh, he’s so sweet I could just eat him up!  I hope you enjoyed.  Don’t forget to check out the rest of the participants by clicking the logo at the top.
